Clean Eating Recipe: Overnight Oats - With A Nursing Warning!

First of all, a much needed and unplanned for blogging break had to happen. Last week was really intense and emotional and if you know us in real life you already know what happened with a dear friend. Not my story to tell so I leave it at that.
On top of that our dog, Biscuit had a really bad seizure that resulted in an emergency run to the vet. She's had epilepsy her entire life and we've dealt with seizures but none that were as bad as the one last week. She collapsed in the yard and Rich scooped her up immediately and ran to the vet forgetting his phone leaving me to wonder what was going on the entire time they were gone. She is now okay again but sadly these seizures are just getting worse as she's getting older.

Thankfully that week is over and in always trying to look on the bright side of things we are hopeful for a better week this week for all.

 I thought I'd share a clean eating recipe with a terrible hilarious story that occurred because of it. First, breakfast is my hardest meal to eat clean with because I usually wake up hangry. My laptop wants to put a red squiggle line under the word hangry but no computer, I meant hangry - not hungry. I will usually open the fridge and just start shoveling items into my face until I realize that's probably bad for me so I've started meal prepping just for morning items. I can almost never cook in the morning for myself because I'm always carrying/nursing in the mornings.

My new but probably going to only have it once a week favorite easy breakfast items is Overnight Oats.



'Greds:
- 1/2 cup steel cut oats (I use these)
- 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- tsp. cinnamon
- one packet of stevia
- 1/3 cup greek yogurt

Add all ingredients to a mason jar, stir, cover, and put in the fridge overnight. Too easy. In the morning toss some berries into it and eat. I started eating with a toddler spoon so it feels like I have more bites.

So I have never had an issue with supply and completely forgot all about that post I did mentioning how great oats are for your supply. I ate this breakfast Saturday morning and woke up in the middle of the night completely DRENCHED. It was like front-row-splash-zone at Sea World with Shamu. I had to change my shirt and literally wring it out. The sheets, matress, duvet, everything was soaked. If you have no issue with supply try to avoid this meal. If you need a little boost in your supply - try this meal! As I type this I am pumping to avoid soaking through a second and third shirt.

  1. I wondered if you can do overnight oats with steel cut and this resolved that! Steel cut have the most nutrients - and I pinned a bunch of overnight oats (check out my Pinterest for those recipes) that were DECLICIOUS, had protein powder too. But I hadn't had the balls to try steel cut. I'm so excited. Sorry about your shirt. For me, I would have cried, wanting to wring it out in a bottle. Always a reason to cry over spilled milk.
