Show and Tell Tuesday: Momfessions

Linking up with Andrea for Show and Tell Tuesdays and this week's topic is: Momfessional Moments. Those moments we share knowing we're not alone in this whole 'mom' thing and letting our lazy sides show.

While I TRY to have Pinterest worthy meals, parties, clothes, etc. The truth is, my kids will sometimes wear their pajamas all day and eat frozen crap warmed up in the microwave so I can have some me time. And that's just fine.

Car Naps
Car naps are the worst. The absolute worst. They wake up immediately when you pull into the garage and won't go back to sleep thus giving you two toddlers with half hour naps. One day while Rich was out of town and I was just trying to keep the 3 of us and the dog alive but we needed diapers and milk so I packed up the kids, fought with them about putting socks on, waving my little white flag letting Olivia wear two mismatched shoes, forgetting to change Liam before leaving and having to unbuckle everyone to go back in to change. We got to Target (a not-even 5 minute drive) and I turned around to find both kids sleeping. There was no way in hell or anywhere else I was going to wake them up so I hit up a Bruegger's Bagels drive through and sat in a parking lot with my coffee, bagel, and phone and Facebooked/Instagrammed for an hour in silence. It was great.

Quiet Time
When we were on our road trip a couple months ago we were staying in hotel rooms each night on our way to Florida. One hotel we checked into we got settled and Biscuit clearly needed to use the bathroom. I volunteered to take her because the kids were crabby, I was crabby, I needed quiet, and wanted to walk around after sitting all day.
Biscuit did her thing and we walked back to our room. I stood outside our door and heard both kids screaming, Rich clearly frustrated, and just sat there for an extra minute or two. I wasn't ready to deal with it yet and just stood there dreading my upcoming evening.

I curse in front of my kids. Sue me. Obviously I don't intentionally do it and I'd like to cut back but it happens. I have a f**king sailor's vocabulary. Sure she's copied me once or twice but we immediately nip it in the butt and she knows she can't say certain grown up words.

Liam got so much stuff on Christmas, (they both did) that Rich and I took a few of their gifts away after they unwrapped them and didn't yet open what's inside yet. I'm going to wrap one or two of his 'Christmas' gifts and give them to him this weekend for his 1st Birthday party.

When Olivia asks me to read a book to her I sometimes pick the shortest one.

Grocery Shopping
I do everything in my power to grocery shop alone. Shopping with the two kids is too stressful for me.

I'm a morning person. I can't stay up late nor do I like to. I enjoy waking up around 5 or 6 am and have an hour or two to myself. Sometimes I use that time to fold laundry, clean the house, workout, and sometimes I use that time to lay on the couch and binge watch Teen Mom quietly until one of the kids gets up.

How about you? What are your Momfessions?

  1. Is there any other way to grocery shop than alone? High fives on that one (and many of the other ones too;).

  2. My mouth...oh my mouth! Now that my oldest two are 25 and 22 it's obvious I too had a sailors mouth.

    1. I'm embarrassed to admit what my two and a half year old has said
